The history of the Celtic warrior spans 3000) years — a remarkably long military tradition. In comparison, the history of the Roman soldier covers barely one thousand years, and that of the Medieval knight is just 500 years. That a consistent collection of traits should survive so long and be identifiable even today is a wonder in itself. Take for example two descriptions of Celtic warriors. The first: 'When (they) took to their broadswords, what a havoc they made! They drove everything before them, and walls could not resist their fury.' The second: They sing as they advance into battle, they yell and leap in the air, clashing their weapons against their shields. . .
