Great follow up to "The Pace". Selena Shorts uses the same template she created with the first book. The plot moves along nicely with good pacing and character development. One of the 'bad' characters made me nervous every time he made an appearance. The mystery and action build gradually throughout until I was left on the edge of my seat. Shelena is quickly making a name for herself as the Queen of Cliffies but the cliffhanger endings don't feel overtly contrived or manipulative. They just feel like a good place to take a break in the action.I would like to have seen a bit more intimacy between Wes and Sophie. A few more tender but sweet and innocent moments. Sometimes it felt like they were just friends or that Wes was Sohpie's older, protective brother. The intimacy did pick up nicely in the second half of the book and I finally believed again that they were a young couple in love.All in all I highly recommend this for teens and adults alike. I look forward to the third book.
